Trim Optimisation

The optimal trim of a ship from a hydrodynamic point of view is unique for given operating conditions, and depends on the ship’s loading and operating speed. Operating with the optimal trim is essential for ship efficiency and can result in substantial reductions in operating costs, energy consumption and emissions of harmful gases (CO2, NOx, SOx).

HydrOcean has developed and distributes a dedicated Trim Optimisation Database and Software that enable a ship’s crew to determine the optimal trim at given ship displacements and speeds.

This software is based on accurate hydrodynamic CFD simulations of ship performances, avoiding noise and interpretation’s errors compared with sea measurements.

Trim optimisation is considered as one of the most easily achievable and cost effective fuel saving practices, as it requires no ship modifications.
