Emergency System Survivability Analysis

On any facility, an EMergency System Survivability Analysis (ESSA) should be carried out to ensure the availability of emergency systems during major accident events such as fire, explosion or hazardous gas release.

Detailed results from Fire and Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA), Smoke and Gas Dispersion Analysis (SGDA) and recommended practices are used to develop the ESSA, to confirm the suitability of the emergency systems design, its ability to withstand the effects of a major accident event as well as and to understand their effectiveness in real emergency conditions.
